SPD locks down schools during search for teens who made MLK Grocery Outlet gun threat

Seattle, WALocal News

On Tuesday afternoon, a hold-up at the MLK Grocery Outlet in Seattle triggered a police lockdown of nearby schools as authorities searched for three teens involved in the attempted theft. The suspects, who attempted to steal about $50 worth of items, threatened store employees with a firearm during a brief struggle before fleeing the scene. Seattle Police Department (SPD) quickly deployed a K-9 team to track the suspects, leading them to the entrance of Garfield High School, where the trail ended. In response to the threat, both Garfield and Nova High School were placed under lockdown to ensure student safety. Currently, no arrests have been made, but SPD collected evidence from the grocery store and notified the Robbery Unit for further investigation.

This incident follows heightened security protocols at local schools due to recent gunfire in the area. The community's safety concerns are growing, emphasizing the need for vigilant security measures in neighborhoods facing such threats. As the investigation continues, local residents and parents are left on edge regarding the safety of their children in school environments.
