Coyote bites child on hand, latest in string of attacks around Bellevue

Seattle, WALocal News

In Bellevue's Factoria neighborhood, a disturbing series of coyote attacks has prompted the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) to enhance patrol efforts. Recent incidents include a child being bitten on the hand, which resulted in a hospital visit for minor injuries. Additionally, a coyote attempted to bite children waiting at a school bus stop, showcasing the escalating threat. WDFW officers have already killed one of the aggressive coyotes and are actively searching for another that escaped. Authorities believe these incidents may be linked to the same group of coyotes, as multiple reports have surfaced, including one where a coyote bit a man in his garage.

In response, the WDFW is advising residents to keep pets leashed and supervise children closely in areas where coyotes are frequently seen. This situation calls for increased vigilance among the community to prevent future attacks. For more information on how to avoid conflicts with coyotes, residents are encouraged to visit the WDFW's website.
