No Capitol Hill-SoDo light rail service this weekend due to Judkins Park Station testing
Sound Transit has announced that Link light rail service between Capitol Hill and SoDo will be suspended from 10 p. m. on February 14 through the end of service on February 16, 2025, to conduct essential systems integration testing. This testing is crucial for the upcoming operations of the interconnected 1 Line and 2 Line light rail systems, which will enhance transit connectivity between Seattle and the Eastside. Although trains will not be operating, Sound Transit will implement Link Shuttle buses, running every 10-15 minutes, to facilitate passenger transport between the affected stations.
This weekend's service interruption is part of a series of ongoing disruptions aimed at preparing for the full operational rollout of the new light rail services, including the addition of Judkins Park Station. Previous disruptions were related to repairs at UW Station, emphasizing the agency's commitment to maintaining efficient transit services. Sound Transit has assured that power will remain active during the testing, although passenger service will be fully closed. Passengers are advised to remain informed and plan their travel accordingly during this period. The anticipated completion of the 2 Line operations later this year is expected to significantly improve transportation options in the region.
