Capitol Hills Rocket Taco launches plan for big move across the street
Rocket Taco, a beloved restaurant in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, is gearing up to relocate across the street to a new, modern venue in the 19th & Mercer apartment building. After seven years of operation at its original site on 19th Ave E, owner Steve Rosen sees this move as a significant opportunity to upgrade to a space that features a modern kitchen and a spacious patio for customers. The previous space was home to Bounty Kitchen, which closed in 2023, and followed a failed renovation attempt for a new project led by former Willows Inn chef Nick Green. Although the new location will not bring major changes to Rocket Taco's menu, it will allow for the introduction of margaritas on the new patio, enhancing the dining experience. Since its launch in 2018, Rocket Taco has built a reputation for quality, affordable, handmade food, including house-made tortillas.
The move is anticipated to take place by the end of February, marking a new chapter for the restaurant. This transition reflects Rocket Taco's resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges, including the pandemic. The community eagerly awaits the restaurant's opening in its new home, showcasing the ongoing evolution of Capitol Hill's dining scene.
