Firefighter injured after crews save pets from house fire near Lake Stevens

On January 19, 2025, a house fire broke out in the 1900 block of Vernon Road near Lake Stevens, Washington, prompting a rapid response from Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue (SRFR). The fire was discovered by a resident who, upon returning home, found the garage filling with smoke. Following emergency protocols, they attempted to rescue their pets but were advised by 911 to evacuate immediately. SRFR arrived at the scene and conducted an aggressive firefighting effort while searching the home for trapped animals. Their efforts resulted in the successful rescue of three cats and one dog, with the fire being brought under control by 7:08 p.
