Capitol Hill self-pour wine bar Rapport closed indefinitely
The beloved self-pour wine bar Rapport has announced its indefinite closure on Capitol Hill, leaving many patrons saddened. The last operational night was December 29th, and the closure is due to personal family matters concerning ownership. Opened in the summer of 2020 during the pandemic, Rapport quickly became a favored spot for locals seeking a unique self-serve experience. Founded by David Clawson, the venue transformed a former Starbucks café into a popular hangout where customers could enjoy wine and beer at their own pace. The community fondly recalls the welcoming atmosphere and quality offerings that defined Rapport, with many expressing hope for the bar's return.
Redesigned by Strata Architects and DEI Creative, the space was not only about technology but also about creating a comfortable environment. While the future of the wine bar remains uncertain, the local community is eager for a reboot of this cherished establishment. As discussions continue regarding the lease and reopening, the fate of the 700 Broadway E location hangs in the balance.
