Victim in Broadway and Pike shooting identified

Seattle, WALocal News

Jonny Adamow, a 29-year-old artist, was identified as the victim of a tragic shooting at the intersection of Broadway and Pike in Seattle on December 31, 2024. The King County Medical Examiner confirmed that Adamow died from a gunshot wound to the chest, and he is remembered fondly by his family and friends as a talented artist and cherished individual. Disturbingly, the shooting appears to have been an ambush targeting another individual, as video footage shows the gunman lying in wait. Police are investigating and have called on the public for assistance in locating the suspect, encouraging anyone with relevant information to come forward. Mayor Bruce Harrell addressed the community's concerns, describing the incident as 'heartbreaking and unacceptable,' especially as it occurred just before New Year’s Eve festivities.

Over the past three years, the Seattle Police Department has seized more than 5,500 firearms in response to rising gun violence and homicides. Adamow's death marks the thirteenth killing in the East Precinct covering Capitol Hill and the Central District in 2024, underscoring a troubling trend. The community continues to grapple with the implications of such violence as they seek solutions to improve public safety.
