Texas woman indicted in Snohomish County church arson

Natasha Marie Odell, a 38-year-old Texas resident, has been indicted on three felony charges for her alleged involvement in the arson of the Seattle Laestadian Lutheran Church in Snohomish County, which was destroyed by fire in August 2023. The U. S. Attorney's Office reported that the fire caused over $2. 5 million in damages.

Evidence against Odell includes cell phone records and surveillance footage showing a woman resembling her using a gasoline container near the church. She was visiting relatives in the area when the incident occurred, and her credit card was used to purchase gasoline and lighters. The charges she faces include damage to religious property, obstruction of religious practices, and use of fire to commit another felony, which could result in sentences ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment. Odell's arraignment is scheduled for December 16, 2024, as the legal proceedings continue. This case highlights the serious consequences of arson and the need to protect places of worship.
