Stanley recalling millions of travel mugs over concerns of shrinking lids causing burns

Stanley is recalling around 2. 6 million stainless steel travel mugs due to significant safety concerns regarding potential burn hazards. The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has indicated that the lids of the switchback and trigger action mugs can shrink when exposed to heat, which may lead to unexpected detachment during use, posing a burn risk.

Reports show 91 incidents globally, with 16 occurring in the U. S. , and 38 individuals have reported burn injuries associated with this product. The affected sizes include 12 oz. , 16 oz.

, and 20 oz. mugs, available since June 2016 through various retailers and online platforms. Consumers are strongly advised to stop using these mugs immediately and to contact Stanley for a free replacement lid. This recall underscores the importance of product safety and consumer vigilance regarding potential hazards.
