Stanley recalls 2.6M switchback and trigger travel mugs due to possible burn hazard

Stanley is recalling approximately 2. 6 million switchback and trigger action stainless steel travel mugs sold in the U. S. due to a serious potential burn hazard. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the mugs’ lid threads could shrink when exposed to heat and torque, leading to the lid detaching during use.

This defect has resulted in 91 reports worldwide of lids coming off, with 38 burn injuries reported globally, including two in the U. S. , with some victims requiring medical attention. The affected mugs were sold in various colors and sizes—12 oz. , 16 oz.
