WA-based Locust Cider closing six taprooms throughout the state

Seattle, WALocal News

Locust Cider, a popular cider brand in Washington, has announced the closure of six taprooms, including key locations in Seattle, Redmond, Olympia, Vancouver, and Walla Walla. This decision, shared via social media, highlights the struggles many local businesses are facing in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Established in 2015, Locust Cider experienced early success and expanded in 2019, but the pandemic significantly disrupted its operations, leading to this difficult yet necessary decision. The company expressed its commitment to a sustainable future, stating, 'While this decision is necessary to ensure the future health of our company, it’s also incredibly painful. ' Despite these closures, Locust Cider will continue to operate its downtown Seattle locations at Post Alley and Market Place, along with taprooms in Gig Harbor, Woodinville, and Spokane.

This shift not only reflects Locust Cider's adaptation to changing market conditions but also underscores the ongoing challenges faced by local businesses in a post-pandemic economy. The company remains dedicated to serving its loyal customers through its remaining locations.
