Seattle Parks expects to restore historic Camp Long lodge, but questions remain

Seattle, WALocal News

The Seattle Parks Department is dedicated to restoring the historic lodge at Camp Long, which was severely damaged in a suspected arson fire in November 2024. The full extent of the damage, which also affected several smaller cabins, is still being assessed. The lodge is vital for hosting various recreational programs and activities, making its restoration a priority. While the reopening timeline is yet to be determined, officials are optimistic about the lodge's future. Stabilization efforts are set to begin soon to maintain the structure and prevent further deterioration.

The department plans to outline restoration options with cost estimates, expecting a preliminary scope by the end of Q1 2025. Construction is projected for 2027 or 2028, depending on design and permitting processes. In the meantime, Camp Long remains open to the public, and the department is exploring ways to continue offering programs without the lodge.
