** State Patrol searching for hit-and-run suspect after pedestrian was killed

Seattle, WA** Local News

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is conducting a search for a hit-and-run driver involved in a fatal accident that left a 23-year-old pedestrian dead on State Route 523. The victim was struck while crossing the roadway. In response, WSP has issued a traffic alert describing the suspect vehicle as a black 2007 GMC Yukon with license plate BIS1792. This activation of the hit-and-run alert system is significant, marking only the third time it has been utilized since its inception 14 months ago. KIRO Newsradio reporter Luke Duecy noted that disseminating the vehicle's description on traffic alert signs is a relatively new tactic for troopers.

The urgency of the search reflects the serious nature of the incident, as authorities stress the need for public assistance in locating the suspect. Anyone with information regarding the vehicle or the incident is urged to contact 911 immediately. This tragic event underscores the ongoing issue of pedestrian safety and the critical nature of responsible driving.
