Successful construction season ends on I-90

Seattle, WALocal News

The construction season for Interstate 90 (I-90), particularly on the Vantage Bridge, has officially concluded, bringing relief to drivers who faced delays throughout the year. All lanes are now open, signaling a successful season that included the completion of important infrastructure upgrades. According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, about 25% of the construction work is complete, incorporating significant milestones such as the installation of 60 concrete panels and a catwalk for maintenance. This season was particularly challenging for drivers, with backups noted on Fridays and Sundays, but the completion of construction means fewer obstacles during the winter months. The WSDOT is now preparing for winter weather, advising drivers to ensure their vehicles are ready for icy conditions.

Looking ahead, the next phase of construction will resume in March, with the project expected to be completed by 2028. This ongoing work aims to enhance traffic flow and safety along this vital transportation corridor, reflecting the state's commitment to infrastructure improvement for its residents.
