** Traffic leading up to Sea-Tac Airport snarled due to 'security incident'

Seattle, WA** Local News

On November 27, 2024, a significant traffic incident occurred at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) due to a security situation involving a mental health crisis. The Port of Seattle confirmed that both Arrivals and Departures lanes were closed for approximately 20 minutes, leading to considerable delays during a peak travel period. Families reported extensive wait times, with one mother experiencing a 50-minute drive from Bellevue, which is typically much shorter. Another traveler, Ali Hassan, highlighted the challenges of finding parking upon arrival. Although the crisis has been resolved, Port spokesperson Perry Cooper warned that travelers should expect continued congestion throughout the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, with projections of up to 177,000 passengers on peak days.

The Port of Seattle encourages drivers to use less congested routes and stay informed about traffic conditions affecting their journeys.
