Seattle, WALocal News

Former Seattle Mariners pitcher Yusei Kikuchi has signed a three-year, $63 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels, marking a significant transition in his career within the AL West. This deal, contingent upon passing a physical, was first reported by the New York Post. Over nine seasons, Kikuchi has earned $142 million, reflecting his value in Major League Baseball. In the 2024 season, he recorded a 9-10 record with a 4. 05 ERA in 32 starts, contributing to both the Toronto Blue Jays and Houston Astros.

Notably, he had a strong performance with the Astros, achieving a 5-1 record and a 2. 70 ERA in 10 starts. The Angels are focused on rebuilding after a disappointing season and hope Kikuchi's experience will enhance their pitching rotation. This offseason, the Angels have made several key acquisitions to improve their competitiveness, aiming to end their streak of nine consecutive losing seasons.
