No light rail between Capitol Hill and the stadiums Sunday (which is OK because there is no sportsball in Seattle this weekend)
Sound Transit suspends light rail service between Capitol Hill Station and Stadium Station on Sunday to replace a cracked rail on the northbound track near Westlake Station. During the suspension, trains will operate every 15 minutes between Lynnwood and Capitol Hill and every 10-15 minutes between Angle Lake and Mount Baker. Shuttle buses will run between Capitol Hill and Stadium every 10-15 minutes to accommodate passengers. The maintenance work is expected to be completed in one day, and riders are encouraged to check service alerts for updates. This suspension is part of Sound Transit’s broader plan of strategic closures through 2025 to facilitate repairs and the addition of a new second line across Lake Washington via I-90.
The opening of the new Judkins Park Station has been postponed to 2026. This weekend also sees a lull in activity in Seattle’s stadium district, with the Seahawks out of town and the Sounders and Reign both eliminated from playoff contention.
