Seattle Polices 2025 Public Safety Survey process is underway
Seattle University has initiated its annual Public Safety Survey to collect community feedback on local policing. The Seattle Police Department relies on these survey results to adjust its strategies in specific neighborhoods. Recent findings show a significant decline in public approval for the police, particularly in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests and the decision to abandon the East Precinct. Jacqueline Helfgott, the survey coordinator, highlighted that before 2020, the department's ratings exceeded the national average. Survey results have also spotlighted local concerns surrounding traffic safety and police capacity, indicating shifting priorities among residents.
The survey aims to provide a platform for community members to express their views and influence policing practices. Participation in the survey is encouraged as a means to foster dialogue between the police and the community. Ultimately, the survey seeks to enhance public safety and trust in law enforcement.
