Election 2025 Day 5 It is still Election Night in Seattle as Wilson now holds 91-vote lead
Challenger Katie Wilson now leads incumbent Mayor Bruce Harrell by 91 votes in Seattle's 2025 mayoral election, according to the latest ballot counts. Wilson claimed 56% of around 38,000 ballots from later-voters, flipping the race after Harrell initially led by seven points on Election Night. Wilson's platform emphasized affordability and social services, while Harrell's campaign focused on his extensive experience and support from national Democratic leaders. An automatic recount will be triggered if the final margin falls below 2,000 votes and less than half a percent of total votes cast. About 8,000 ballots remain to be counted, including challenged ballots that can be verified.
The last incumbent mayor reelected in Seattle was Greg Nickels in 2005. Wilson's performance among later-voters mirrors past progressive victories in the city, such as Kshama Sawant's comeback in 2019. Another update on ballot counts is scheduled for Veterans Day.
