Seattle Parks and Recreation will begin a public planning process next week to address safety and activity concerns at Capitol Hill parks, particularly Seven Hills Park and Broadway Hill Park. Seven Hills Park, fenced off since September due to issues with homeless encampments, will be a key focus as officials seek community input on revitalization efforts. Broadway Hill Park, while still open, has also been the subject of numerous complaints regarding safety and criminal activity. District 3 representative Joy Hollingsworth is advocating for community-centered initiatives to improve park conditions and foster inclusivity. Parks officials are set to hold meetings to discuss community engagement and identify activation partners.

The city has not announced a reopening date for Seven Hills Park, which has faced similar challenges in the past, including a major sweep in 2022. Both parks are part of a broader effort to enhance safety and public space in Capitol Hill, which has seen increased crime and homelessness issues. The activation strategy aims to create a safer and more welcoming environment for all park users.
