Seattle, WALocal News

The Consulate of Mexico in Seattle will host a Día de Muertos celebration on November 1, 2025, from 3 PM to 5 PM at STG Kerry Hall, inviting families to honor deceased loved ones through cultural traditions. Attendees can create community altars adorned with marigolds, candles, and photos, alongside art workshops and a marketplace featuring local vendors. Traditional foods, including pan de muerto and sugar skulls, will be available, emphasizing the event's family-friendly nature. Later that night, an adult-focused screening of "Pedro Páramo" will include a panel discussion on Magic Realism and the work of Juan Rulfo. The consulate, established on Capitol Hill in 2018, is using this event to strengthen community ties.

This marks the first celebration at STG Kerry Hall, which has transitioned from a former movie theater to an event space. A grand opening celebration for STG Kerry Hall is scheduled for November 15, featuring performances and workshops. The event highlights the growing cultural landscape of Capitol Hill as it embraces diverse community events.
