Saturday in Cal Anderson SNAP to Action Food Drive

Seattle, WALocal News

The Cascadia Democratic Action group will host a SNAP to Action food drive for the Rainier Valley Food Bank on Saturday, Nov. 1, from noon to 3 p. m. at Cal Anderson Park. The drive seeks to gather specific food donations and facilitate online financial contributions to support the food bank during the ongoing government shutdown.

This shutdown has left numerous federal employees in the Seattle area without paychecks, highlighting the urgency of community support. In conjunction with the food drive, a Federal Workers Resource Fair will be held at City Hall on Thursday, featuring assistance from various local organizations. Participants in the fair will receive information on available resources and support services. Community members are encouraged to donate food items such as cooking oil, rice, pasta, and hygiene products at the drive. Financial contributions directly to food banks are also recommended for immediate impact.

The event underscores the importance of local support for vulnerable populations during challenging times.
