911 Spike in overdoses includes First Hill apartment OD that kills one, sends two more to hospital
A significant rise in overdose emergencies struck Seattle on Tuesday, with six separate incidents reported. The most severe case occurred in a First Hill apartment, where a 31-year-old man succumbed to an opioid overdose despite emergency responders’ efforts. Two other victims, a 31-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, were taken to Harborview Medical Center, with one in critical condition and the other stable. In another alarming event, a man was robbed at knifepoint of his electric bike in front of Dick’s Drive-in, with the thief reportedly carrying a pit bull puppy. Furthermore, a tragic accident occurred in Eastlake when a recycling truck fatally struck a man sleeping near dumpsters.
The Seattle Police Department is actively investigating the overdose death at the apartment. Local community groups are providing drug testing strips to help mitigate overdose risks. This series of events underscores the ongoing challenges Seattle faces regarding drug-related issues and public safety.
