Seattle, WALocal News

On Capitol Hill, Stitch Cafe has opened at 1408 E Pine, merging the worlds of coffee and crafting. Owner Sarah Chae, an LGBTQIA+ fiber artist, aspires to create a community hub for crafters in the area. The cafe showcases local artistry on its October artists wall, featuring works from groups like our. common. thread and Stitch Tits.

Operating hours are currently 10 AM to 6 PM daily, excluding Sundays and Mondays, with potential for extended hours similar to Seatown Pottery's 24-hour studio model. Chae and her business partner Shimon Masaki, owner of Upright Tree Coffee Roasters, emphasize a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. The space previously housed Poco Bar and Lounge, which underwent significant transformation to accommodate the cafe's vision. Stitch Cafe distinguishes itself from Stitches, a nearby fabric store that celebrated its 20-year milestone this year. The opening of Stitch Cafe enriches the Capitol Hill community, inviting creativity and connection among local residents.
