On the Block crew bringing Eleven Eleven all-ages art and cultural small business incubator space to 11th Ave

Seattle, WALocal News

Eleven : Eleven, an all-ages venue, is under construction at 1512 11th Ave, transforming a former nightclub location. This initiative is backed by a group of artists and business owners, including Carolyn Hitt and Julie Chang Schulman, aiming to serve as a creative and cultural small business incubator. An early preview will take place on October 9th during the Capitol Hill Art Walk, featuring a retrospective of Hitt's artwork. The venue's establishment responds to the community's need for an all-ages performance space after Cafe Racer closed due to financial difficulties. Eleven : Eleven also aims to promote a hyperlocal economy by offering a unique menu of local goods and services.

The project builds on the On the Block street fairs, which began in 2022 to support artists and businesses post-COVID-19. The space previously served as a holiday-themed bar and a temporary mailbox business location before its transformation. This development signifies a renewed commitment to the arts and community engagement in Capitol Hill.
