A new hope for Capitol Hill beer Outer Planet has a new owner

Amory Carhart has acquired Outer Planet, a Capitol Hill microbrewery that recently closed after its original owners sought a buyer for over a year. The brewery, which opened in 2015, faced challenges leading to its closure in September. Carhart, who has six years of experience in the brewing industry, finalized the acquisition shortly after the brewery's closing party, just before an auction of its equipment. He aims to reopen Outer Planet quickly, potentially as soon as Wednesday, with the original crew returning to assist in the restart. Carhart intends to stick to the established recipes while introducing guest taps and expanding the brewery's offerings.

His long-term vision includes building a wholesale business and hosting more events at the 12th Ave location. The restart occurs amid a challenging period for Capitol Hill breweries, following the closure of Redhook microbrewery earlier this year. Outer Planet's new chapter reflects a hopeful revival for craft beer in the neighborhood.
