Heat Advisory to begin with record-breaking temperatures possible

Seattle, WALocal News

Seattle braces for a heat wave starting Friday, with temperatures soaring into the 90s for five consecutive days. A Heat Advisory is active for the Interstate 5 corridor, including Seattle, while an Excessive Heat Warning targets the Cascade foothills. The hottest temperatures will occur between 2 to 6 p. m. , with Seattle and Bellevue reaching around 87 degrees.

Additionally, a Fire Weather Watch is in place for the Cascades due to dry conditions that could accelerate wildfire spread. Olympia and Tumwater will also see temperatures rise into the 80s by noon and 90s by 4 p. m. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take breaks to prevent heat exhaustion amid the busy weekend. After Tuesday, temperatures are expected to cool as a low-pressure system approaches, potentially bringing showers for Labor Day weekend.

This heat wave marks one of the longest stretches of high temperatures in the area this summer.
