Man wanted in sexual assault at Bellingham park

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a sexual assault that occurred Wednesday morning at Little Squalicum Park in Bellingham. Deputies have not located the suspect, despite an extensive search involving a police dog. The attacker is described as a man in his 30s or 40s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a heavier build, dark curly hair in a ponytail, and a beard. He was last seen wearing brown pants and a tan jacket. Authorities have urged residents living near the park to check their security camera footage from 7 a.

m. to 9 a. m. on August 20 and report any suspicious activity to the WCSO. This incident raises significant concerns regarding safety in public spaces, particularly for vulnerable individuals.

Local officials emphasize the importance of community vigilance in reporting any leads. Ongoing investigations aim to ensure safety and prevent future incidents in the area.
