Major construction coming to your neighborhood 520 Portage Bay Bridge and Roanoke Lid work includes big projects to move key utilities

Seattle, WALocal News

Seattle's SR 520 Portage Bay Bridge and Roanoke Lid project will commence significant utility relocation this summer, impacting local traffic and access. Workers will relocate a major 12-inch water main and a 26-kilovolt power line over the next six months on Boyer Avenue East and surrounding areas. Major traffic detours will affect the Boyer Stairs, which connect Montlake to Interlaken Park and Capitol Hill. This relocation is part of a broader $1. 4 billion construction effort, with the entire project set for completion by 2031.

The Boyer Stairs will remain closed until 2030 due to ongoing construction activities. WSDOT has informed residents about upcoming disruptions, emphasizing the importance of the utility work. The Montlake Lid portion of the project has already been completed, featuring a new walk/bike bridge. Residents can access further details and a construction hotline for inquiries.
