After its sibling bar shuttered last week, Capitol Hills Stateside restaurant is also a goner
Stateside restaurant on Capitol Hill will close after nearly ten years, following the closure of its sibling bar, Foreign National. Chef Eric Johnson confirmed the closure was due to the expiration of the restaurant's lease. Stateside opened in late 2014 and quickly became part of the vibrant dining scene in the area, known for its French Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant, along with Foreign National, contributed to the transformation of old auto row structures into lively food and drink complexes. The future of the 2,400-square-foot restaurant space remains unclear as Johnson and his partner, Seth Hammond, have moved on from the venture.
A listing for the property is now active, indicating the space is on the market. The Capitol Hill food scene, once bustling with new openings, is currently undergoing shifts as establishments adapt to changing circumstances. The closure of Stateside marks another significant change in the neighborhood's culinary landscape.
