A shooting on the Seattle waterfront on July 31, 2025, hospitalized a 68-year-old man, prompting concerns among witnesses in the busy tourist area. The argument escalated into gunfire near the Argosy Cruises dock, leading to the arrest of the suspected shooter, who is set to appear in court on August 1. Mayor Bruce Harrell addressed the incident during a ribbon-cutting event for a new bike lane, emphasizing ongoing safety measures and the city's commitment to reducing gun violence. Harrell noted that Seattle police remove approximately five guns from the streets daily, totaling over 2,000 annually. Witnesses described the victim as a regular who brought joy to the waterfront atmosphere.

The incident raised alarms about safety in the popular district, with local employees expressing concern for the area's reputation.
