Say goodbye to the Foreign National as Statesides neighbor bar shuts down

Seattle, WALocal News

Foreign National, the bar neighboring Stateside in Capitol Hill, Seattle, closed its doors after seven years of service. Owner Eric Johnson announced the closure via a farewell message, expressing gratitude to the Seattle community. Stateside launched in late 2014, with Foreign National following in 2016, quickly gaining popularity despite its limited seating. The bar served as a unique, intimate extension of Stateside, contributing to the vibrant food and drink culture of Capitol Hill. Over the past decade, the neighborhood has seen a shift in dining complexes, with new establishments replacing older ones.

Although there are still hidden gems in the area, such as the Paper Fan Cocktail Bar, the future of the Foreign National space remains uncertain. Johnson and his partner have not provided any updates, and business permits have not revealed any new plans. The closure reflects ongoing changes in Seattle's dynamic restaurant scene.
