Heres what development planned for the Capitol Hill 15th Ave E QFC block will look like if officials sign off on sixth story

Seattle, WALocal News

The redevelopment proposal for Capitol Hill's 15th Ave E QFC block could result in a six-story mixed-use building if city officials approve it. Hunters Capital plans to incorporate 172 residential units and nearly 10,000 square feet of commercial space, aiming to preserve a notable European hornbeam tree. The project requires a zoning exception, which has faced opposition from local residents. A design review scheduled for August has been pushed to September, allowing for additional community feedback. Updated plans will include new materials and window designs to improve the building's visual appeal.

The construction will necessitate demolishing the existing block, which includes the old QFC grocery store and the historic Moore Family building. Meanwhile, the former QFC space will temporarily host events through the Punk Rock Flea Market. The project reflects ongoing changes in the neighborhood, with other developments already underway, including the recently completed Capitol Hilltop Apartments.
