Moscow police release detailed documents of University of Idaho murders

The Moscow Police Department has released hundreds of investigative documents regarding the 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students, following Bryan Kohberger's sentencing to multiple life terms. This disclosure includes over 300 supplementary files, detailing the gruesome crime scene where the victims were found. Kohberger, aged 30, pleaded guilty to the charges to avoid the death penalty, admitting to the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. The police reports vividly describe the horrific state of the crime scene, with blood-soaked bedding and significant traumatic injuries to the victims. Chapin suffered a fatal neck stab wound, while Kernodle endured over 50 stab wounds, indicating a violent struggle.

Mogen's injuries included lacerations to her liver and lung, and Goncalves sustained both sharp and blunt force injuries. The case's details have been kept from the public for nearly three years, heightening interest in the investigation. Kohberger is currently held at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution in Kuna.
