Brush fire in Bothell threatens homes, prompts emergency response

A brush fire erupted in Bothell, Washington, on July 23, 2025, threatening homes in the vicinity. The blaze, reported by Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue, reached heights of six feet and spread into thick vegetation due to light winds. Firefighters aggressively attacked the flames, utilizing hose lines and support from a helicopter that made successful water drops. The fire began near high-tension power lines, which led Puget Sound Energy to de-energize the lines to ensure safety. Incident command implemented structural protection measures, and no homes were lost during the incident.

Fire crews will remain on-site to monitor for flare-ups as the situation develops. The incident occurred in a Wildland Urban Interface area, highlighting the need for residents to create defensible spaces and evacuation plans. Fire investigators are currently assessing the cause of the fire.
