Large police response as cops struggle with suspect in late night incident at Denny Blaine Park

Seattle, WALocal News

Seattle police responded to Denny Blaine Park around midnight following a report of a man threatening another with a gun. Officers witnessed the suspect slashing a tire and moved in to make an arrest, but the suspect resisted and fell approximately three feet over a wall. He sustained injuries and was transported to Harborview for treatment, while another individual was arrested for obstruction. The original caller, who reported the incident, possessed the only firearm recovered by police. The park, a known queer nude beach, was closed at the time of the incident, which has raised ongoing concerns among local residents.

A lawsuit has prompted the city to develop a plan addressing reported criminal activity in the area. The Friends of Denny Blaine community group has proposed an abatement plan to the city. No officers were reported injured during the confrontation.
