Puppy revived with Narcan after fentanyl overdose in Washington

Seattle, WALocal News

The Lacey Fire Department successfully revived a puppy suffering from a fentanyl overdose on Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters found the unresponsive puppy in a car that contained fentanyl. They promptly administered Narcan, a medication used to counteract opioid overdoses, which led to the puppy's revival. Following treatment, the department noted that the puppy was in good condition. Although the use of Narcan on pets is rare, LFD crews are equipped and trained for a range of emergency situations.

This incident underscores the increasing risks associated with fentanyl exposure, not only for humans but also for pets. Fentanyl-related incidents have surged in recent years, prompting discussions about the need for better awareness and preparedness. First responders play a crucial role in addressing these challenges and ensuring the safety of both pets and humans in such scenarios.
