Leschi Community Council and Central Area Neighborhood District Council holding candidates forum focused on District 3

Seattle, WALocal News

A candidates forum for District 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:30 PM at Grace United Methodist Church, co-sponsored by the Leschi Community Council and the Central Area Neighborhood District Council. This event will feature candidates for the City Council and Mayoral races, lasting two hours and available for livestream viewing. The forum comes as ballots for the August 5th vote are expected to arrive this week, emphasizing the significance of local elections. In a separate legal matter, a King County judge ordered the city to devise a plan addressing illegal activities at Denny Blaine Park, a popular nude beach. Judge Samuel Chung declined to close the park but acknowledged that illegal behaviors, such as drug use and public sex, represent a public nuisance.

The city must respond within two weeks to ensure community safety while maintaining the park’s clothing-optional culture. The Friends of Denny Blaine group continues to seek community solutions amidst ongoing legal challenges. This case underscores the tension between community interests and public safety in Seattle's vibrant neighborhoods.
