Around 10,000 without power across Northern Capitol Hill UPDATE

Seattle, WALocal News

Nearly 10,000 customers in North Capitol Hill lost power Monday afternoon due to downed wires from a large tree. Seattle City Light initiated restoration efforts shortly after the outage was reported at 3 PM, ultimately completing repairs by 10 PM. Meanwhile, a King County judge ruled against closing Denny Blaine Park, which has faced complaints about illegal activities, including drug use and public indecency. The judge ordered the city to devise a plan to mitigate these issues while acknowledging the park's importance to queer and nudist communities. Seattle City Hall has two weeks to respond to the order, which does not prohibit public nudity.

The ongoing legal dispute reflects a broader tension between community use and neighborhood concerns. Documentation of illegal activities around the park has been submitted as part of the case. A trial regarding the park's future is scheduled for April 2026.
