Goodbye to Gold Bar and Afterlife on E Olive Way

Seattle, WALocal News

Gold Bar and Afterlife, a popular lounge and nightclub in Capitol Hill, have permanently closed after losing their lease due to a recent real estate deal. The ownership emphasized their commitment to fostering community and artistic expression within their venues. Noise complaints had intensified earlier this year, contributing to the decision to halt operations by June. The E Olive Way location has a history of previous establishments, including Dacha Diner and The Saint, highlighting the area's evolving nightlife landscape. A Pacific Northwest hospitality veteran is planning a new project for the E Olive Way site, signaling potential changes ahead.

Ownership of Afterlife hinted at exploring new locations for their club, suggesting a desire to maintain their presence in the Capitol Hill nightlife scene. The closure leaves a gap in the local nightlife, previously characterized by vibrant events and community gatherings. As the neighborhood adapts, the future of nightlife on E Olive Way remains in flux.
