Woman reported dead in Capitol Hill parking lot shooting UPDATE

A woman was shot and killed in a parking lot near Teto’s Cantina in Capitol Hill shortly after midnight on Monday. Seattle police received reports of gunfire and discovered the victim on the ground, who was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Seattle Fire Department. Homicide detectives are on site collecting evidence and reviewing video footage while seeking suspects who reportedly fled the scene. The Seattle Police Department confirmed the homicide investigation but has not provided details about the events leading to the shooting. In a related note, earlier that night, police were also investigating incidents of airgun assaults occurring around Cal Anderson Park.

These assaults involved two males allegedly targeting individuals with airgun pellets, prompting a police response. The shooting incident represents the 28th homicide in Seattle for 2024, following a record 73 murders in the city the previous year. Community concerns about public safety during local events like Pride festivities are likely to increase following this tragic incident.
