Troopers seek car camera video that may have captured fatal freeway shooting

Seattle, WALocal News

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is requesting dash camera footage from motorists who traveled on State Route 167 near Ellingson Road in Algona on Wednesday night, following a fatal shooting. At around 7:30 p. m. , troopers discovered 22-year-old Breiner Andres Castro Jaramillo of Auburn dead from multiple gunshot wounds inside his silver Toyota Prius. Witness accounts suggest the shooter may have been driving a 1990-1995 red or maroon Ford Explorer or a 2018-2020 silver Subaru BRZ or Toyota FR-S.

Investigators have yet to determine if the shooting was a targeted attack, a random act of violence, or the result of road rage. WSP emphasizes the importance of gathering dash camera footage, as it may provide crucial evidence. Jim Fuda from Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound noted that many vehicles, especially those equipped with dash cameras, could have recorded the incident without the drivers' awareness. Troopers are actively seeking tips from the public, which can be submitted anonymously. The urgency of this investigation highlights the potential community impact and the need for public cooperation.
