Seattles mysterious Sea Dragonsss artist reveals story behind Capitol Hills time-traveling sculptures

Seattle, WALocal News

Seattle artist Sea DragonSSS has transitioned from an obscure musician to a celebrated street artist, known for his vibrant dragon sculptures on utility poles. His journey began in 2014 when he repurposed unsold music CDs into mobile art installations, which have since evolved into character-driven narratives featuring a time-traveling dragon named Eddie. The initial abstract sculptures were inspired by Alexander Calder but took on a more figurative form after a pivotal installation outside Dick’s Drive-In. The artist has faced numerous challenges, including vandalism and a broken arm from a fall during installation, which underscored the risks of street art. Despite these obstacles, Sea DragonSSS aims to animate his dragon universe, expanding the storytelling aspect of his work.

His installations not only beautify the urban environment but also engage the local community with their whimsical narratives. The artist's work reflects a unique blend of creativity, resilience, and a commitment to public art. Sea DragonSSS’s journey emphasizes the importance of artistic expression and its impact on urban culture.
