Theres a new, even more fun place to ride bikes now below I-5 between Capitol Hill and Eastlake

Seattle, WALocal News

Seattle unveiled a renovated mountain bike skills park under I-5, marking a significant enhancement for local cyclists. The $314,000 project, funded by King County Parks and the Seattle Park District, features two new asphalt tracks designed to be accessible for all riders, including those with mobility devices. The main pump track offers a low-maintenance experience, while the adaptive track focuses on safety for beginners and families. The Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, which initially opened the park in 2005, led the renovation to address previous challenges like homelessness and litter. Designed by Jeremy Bushnell, a former pro BMX rider, the new tracks aim to modernize the Tqalu Skills Zone area.

The 3,000-square-foot adaptive track and the larger 9,000-square-foot main track are expected to draw more young riders. Community support, including donations and volunteer efforts, played a crucial role in bringing this project to fruition. The park is located at 1701 Lakeview Blvd. E, providing a new recreational space for the neighborhood.
