Event bids goodbye to Seattle's Memorial Stadium

Seattle, WALocal News

Tomorrow, Seattle will host a farewell event for Memorial Stadium, which has served the community for nearly 80 years. The "Lights Out... For Now" event takes place from 4 to 7 PM at 401 5th Ave. North, featuring food trucks and a performance by the Seattle Public Schools' All-City Marching Band. This stadium has been a backdrop for memorable local events, including high school games, graduations, and concerts, making it a cherished landmark.

The facility will soon be demolished to pave the way for a new $140 million stadium, a project supported by a partnership between Seattle Public Schools and the city. Construction on the new facility is expected to start later this year. The farewell event highlights the community's connection to the stadium, emphasizing its historical significance. As residents gather to commemorate its legacy, they also look forward to the new opportunities the upcoming facility will bring. This transition reflects broader changes in urban infrastructure to better serve the community's needs.
