Under New Ownership First, Pride, then new life and new memories at The Cuff

Seattle, WALocal News

Scott Walent has taken over The Cuff Complex, a well-established leather bar in Seattle's Capitol Hill, marking a significant shift in ownership aimed at enhancing the venue's role in the local queer community. Previously a San Francisco nightlife promoter, Walent plans to introduce diverse music and themed events, such as a Girl’s Night Out, to attract a wider range of patrons. The acquisition follows the Queer/Bar family’s decision to spin off The Cuff to an owner committed to preserving its historic legacy. Walent's collaboration with Joey Burgess during Pride weekend aims to bridge the transition while introducing new ideas. He emphasizes the importance of marketing, having already seen increased attendance since implementing promotional strategies.

Walent envisions The Cuff as a safe space where individuals can express themselves freely and forge connections. His long-term goals include attracting talent from outside Seattle and partnering with various promoters to enhance the venue's offerings. With the upcoming Pride festivities, Walent is eager to leave his mark on the celebrated bar's future.
