New video shows fugitive escape custody at Sea-Tac Airport

SeaTac, WALocal News

Sedric Stevensen, a fugitive wanted in Kentucky, escaped custody at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Sunday morning, as shown in newly released surveillance footage. The video captures him fleeing from the United Airlines ticket counter and boarding a light rail train while being pursued by two prison transport agents. Despite being shackled at the wrists and chained at the waist, Stevensen managed to evade capture, prompting a manhunt that continues more than 24 hours later. Authorities were not notified in advance about the prisoner transfer, which raised serious concerns about security protocols at the airport. Perry Cooper, spokesperson for SEA Airport, noted that such transfers typically require notification, which was not observed in this case.

The Port of Seattle clarified that it was not involved in the transport arrangement. Stevensen has a history of fleeing custody, with prior incidents reported in Tennessee. He faces multiple charges, including assaulting law enforcement and possession of methamphetamine, underlining the urgency of his recapture.
