Suspects use stolen forklift in Seattle ATM theft

SeaTac, WALocal News

On January 27, 2025, Seattle police responded to a report of an ATM theft at a BECU credit union in the Fremont neighborhood, where suspects attempted to steal two ATMs using a stolen forklift. At approximately 3 a. m. , officers arrived to find three to four suspects loading one of the ATMs into a vehicle, while the other ATM was left behind. The suspects abandoned the ATM and fled the scene in different directions, raising concerns about the effectiveness of local security measures.

The forklift, which played a crucial role in the theft, was stolen from a nearby location just before the incident. This brazen act of theft not only highlights the challenges of urban crime but also the growing trend of using unconventional methods for criminal activities. Police are actively investigating the case and are seeking assistance from the community to identify the suspects. The incident underscores the importance of vigilance in maintaining public safety and the need for enhanced security measures in financial institutions. As the investigation progresses, updates will be provided by the Seattle Police Department.
