Cruise Night exits Stocktons Miracle Mile as security issues force car show to tap brakes
Cruise Night on Stockton’s Miracle Mile has been canceled after a previous event devolved into violence, prompting security concerns. Board President Jeff Gamboni highlighted that any future events would require additional police and security personnel to ensure safety. Originally intended as a nostalgic celebration of classic cars, last month’s gathering attracted families and car enthusiasts but ended in chaos. Gamboni pointed out that the presence of open alcoholic containers contributed to the disorder, stating, “People are not comfortable with open containers. ” The Miracle Mile Community Improvement District is now tasked with assessing the financial burden of increased security measures before proceeding.
Gamboni expressed disappointment over the cancellation, recognizing the community's feelings. He encouraged individuals to communicate with the Cruise Night Committee regarding their opinions. Ensuring a safe, family-friendly atmosphere remains a priority for the district.
