Mayor Lurie Announces New Retail Pop-Ups to Continue San Francisco's Downtown Revitalization

San Francisco, CALocal News

Mayor Daniel Lurie launched a $500,000 investment from JPMorganChase to boost downtown San Francisco's economy through the "Vacant to Vibrant" initiative. This program will open two new retail pop-ups and secure long-term leases for four businesses in formerly vacant storefronts. The latest expansion brings the total number of pop-ups to 21 since the program began in 2023, with plans for 26 additional storefronts in the coming year. This public-private partnership, led by SF New Deal and the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development, aims to support local entrepreneurs and drive economic recovery. Mayor Lurie highlighted that each new business revitalizes commercial corridors.

The upcoming businesses include Al Pastor Papi, Nooworks, and Craftivity, among others. The initiative reflects Lurie's commitment to downtown revitalization and reducing barriers for small business owners. Additionally, the Mayor has introduced a permanent San Francisco Police Department Hospitality Zone Task Force to maintain safety in key areas throughout the year.
